4 Note Solo

If you think that playing a good blues solo is difficult and requires the 5-box pentatonic patterns you are probably complicating yourself. Watch how easy Griff Hamlin plays a 24-bar solo using 2 strings only at 8th and 10th fret.

Playing blues involves a lot of string bending technique. If you are new to this technique and your fingers can’t bend at least up to one full step (that’s two frets on your guitar fretboard) you can lower your guitar tuning so the string tension is easier to handle. Another way is to change the string gauge to the lightest size because the bigger the string’s diameter the more difficult for you to bend it.
